1. Your OpenRouter key
MeetScribe, like voicedebrief.ai, runs on your own key: we charge nothing and add no margin, and you pay OpenRouter directly. Use a key with a credit limit: that limit is the real spending cap. The key is kept in this browser profile and sent only to openrouter.ai. How do I get a key? Five steps, and how to cap what it can spend.
2. Microphone
Needed only if you want your own voice transcribed (labelled You). Chrome asks once, here; the capture page cannot ask, because it is never shown.
3. Where you hear the meeting
Capturing a tab silences it, so MeetScribe plays it back. Pick the device you use for Meet, or the meeting may move to another speaker when capture starts.
4. Transcription
Until the Phase 0 bake-off picks a default, openai/whisper-large-v3 is the starting point.
Your audio and its transcript are sent to OpenRouter, which passes them to a model provider. We do not know which provider handles your recording, and we have no control over what they do with it. Do not use this for anything you would not hand to a third party.
Beta: do not transcribe confidential meetings. On MeetScribe's side everything is client-side, and nothing goes to a server of ours. Once audio leaves this browser for OpenRouter, we cannot see or verify who processes it or whether it is kept.
5. The debrief
After a meeting, MeetScribe can write the debrief: key points, decisions, actions, open questions, one sentence. It uses the same structure, language and tone settings as voicedebrief.ai. The transcript is never changed; the debrief is a separate document.
